There is quite a journey between designing bedrooms with snake-like walls in one of Madrid’s most extraordinary hotels and bringing two ageing office buildings together in Lichfield, but both form part of architect Egon Hansen’s story.

Beauty has always been at the heart of Lynn Potter’s career, although the route she has taken has been anything but predictable. We recently sat down at the Shire House barista station with Jamie, the founder of Lichfield-based main contractor Fothergills Ltd, to chat about his journey into business, his philosophy on construction, and what it was like to bring our very own Shire House to life.
